Brand New State Website For New Yorkers

The citizens of New York are in for a surprise, when they visit their beloved state’s website. Being revamped from its 15 year old website, ny.gov, has now embarked with a snazzy and sophisticated look emphasizing big numbers, vibrant color and Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The long overdue job of redesigning this site was allocated to Rachel Haot, deputy secretary of technology. Additionally, the Cuomo administration also appointed her with the task of modernizing government access to state services. Ms. Haot said she championed the revamp along with more than 100 other people in tow. This project spanned across 10 months, she said.

According to the Wall Street Journal the governor’s website and ny.gov together got 7 million hits in 2013 alone. Despite its drab dark navy look and excessively long menus, the sites received approximately 20% of traffic through mobile devices. The new site is designed to be responsive across multiple screen dimensions, making it extremely easy to engage with on mobile.

The clean layout of the site effortlessly showcases the Cuomo administration initiatives and consumer savings, while being duly sprinkled with messages from the governor’s office with latest news and statistics.
