NewsDay 3 at Salesforce Connections 2015

Day 3 at Salesforce Connections 2015

MTA on Day 3 at Salesforce Connections 2015 was all agog to be at the Salesforce World Tour New York at the Javits Centre.

Still, since events do have a formality to maintain, the keynote for this exciting day began on an even more enthralling note – with audio-visuals of the cosmic space to depict the future of marketing cloud and CX. Speakers Keith Block, Vice Chairman & President for Salesforce; Lynn Vojvodich, CMO & Executive VP for Salesforce and special guests discussed the need to focus on the customer journey. Block stated, “What are you doing to get closer to your customer to drive success? The most successful companies pivot to their customers.”

Customer-centricity has been the underlying theme for the event this year, and it was a mind-bender for MTA to understand the various approaches to a simple aspect that until two decades ago our neighbourhood tony shops addressed so easily. They personalised everything to their customer without the need for automation. All they did was be real and attend to customers like they were family. Of course, they didn’t have the connected zillions to cater to.

Talking of connected, networking and exchange of ideas came effortlessly during the cloud expo and the sessions too added to the fun and learning. The energy was undoubtedly fantastic. For us, it was a one-of-a-kind day and the highlight of the 3-day event, despite the crowds and the burgeoning number of booths. MTA also got to witness first-hand Salesforce app experts, in their element, showcasing their turn-of-the-century products, which bring together sales and marketing in the personalized digital domain.

Mad rush and coffee time notwithstanding, MTA made it to the session ‘How Intuit Turned Transactional Emails into Quick Customer Wins’. It was interesting to hear speakers Rian Lemmer, Senior Business Analyst for Intuit; Misty McDaniel, Manager, Southwest Programs for Salesforce; and Sultan Siddiqui, Director, Customer Success for Salesforce discuss issues that a business faces when different product lines communicate differently creating customer confusion and email apathy. Lemmer guided audiences how integrating branding strategies of various business to come across cohesively to the customer enhanced engagement rates more than 50 percent.

After squeezing in that session, MTA trooped right back into the vibrancy of Salesforce World Tour Cloud Expo. Of course, choosing from the wide array of zones available was definitely a challenge, as we were surrounded by top-notch innovation and acumen in the marketing technology space. Seems like every company today, echoes what former Yankees’ shortstop Derek Jeter said earlier in the day, “My biggest fear in life is being unprepared.” And, more somehow always feels less.

For MTA, however, our mug (cup would be too small for this!) of learning brimmeth over! And, we leave you with the acknowledgement – a big thank you to Javits Centre and Salesforce Connections 2015 for hosting this awesome event and having MTA participate ever so warmly in it. Bet you are already looking forward to MTA at Connections 2016!
