Amazon Launches AWS IoT For Connected Devices to Securely Interact with Cloud Applications

Amazon will launch of its much-awaited IoT solution, the AWS IoT platform. In an announcement at its re:Invent conference for developers being held in Las Vegas, the company described the solution as a managed cloud platform “that lets connected devices easily and securely interact with cloud applications and other devices.”

The platform, scheduled for beta launch, will be able to support trillions of messages and billions of devices, and offers seamless integration with Amazon Kinesis, Lambda, Amazon Machine Learning, Amazon S3 and Amazon DynamoDB to develop IoT applications, manage existing infrastructure and analyze available data. The platform will consist of a rules-based engine, a device gateway, a registry for the data in the user’s devices, and Device Shadows, a feature that allows users to track data about offline devices and send it back to the system when they are back online. The IoT solution will make it simpler for developers to process the incoming data from devices making use of standard protocols and gateways like HTTPS and MQTT.
