Razorsight Announces New Predictive Analytics Solution on MapR

On June 16, 2015, at the Spark Summit, California based MapR Technologies, Inc., announced that Razorsight, provider of cloud-based predictive analytics software, is leveraging the MapR Distribution. This includes Hadoop and Apache Spark, and the objective is to effectively scale cost and bring forth valuable insights for communications service providers by using predictive analytics and data science.

MapR offers dependability, simplicity in use, and impressive speed to Hadoop, NoSQL, streaming and database applications in a consolidated distribution for Hadoop. MapR is leveraged by over 700 customers across diverse industries and also by leading Web 2.0 and Global 2000 companies. MapR’s investors include leading names like Google Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners, and their partner ecosystem includes leaders like Amazon, HP, Google, Cisco, and Teradata.

Major global brands like IBM, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, Time Warner, etc. are using Razorsight’s advanced analytics software. Razorsight’s actionable insights enable targeted customer acquisition, better retention opportunities, and higher operating margins.

Razorsight faced several obstacles with their earlier architecture since data consumption, analytics, processing, visualization, and querying were battling with one another when it came to processing power. Fortunately, with this new MapR platform, all these aspects can be treated independently, which in turn will positively impact scalability and performance. The MapR architecture also brings along massive cost saving.

Says, Suren Nathan, CTO, Razorsight, “We selected MapR for several reasons.  First, having the flexibility of the full Spark stack as part of the Hadoop distribution was very important. Second, MapR provided production-class Hadoop with enterprise support. And third, the NFS gateway was critical for us to integrate ingestion and data flow pipelines with HDFS for easy, high-speed access. Our technology stack is one of our major differentiators. Our customers trust us with their data, and our ability to generate accurate and reliable predictive insights in the fastest possible timeframe.”
